About Your Guide
"Hello, my name is Eric Koenig of North Star Guide Service. I am a "fully insured " fishing guide, youth coach, work for our school district and most importantly a father. My family owns and operates North Star Lake Resort , a deluxe family resort located north of Grand Rapids. I have been a guide in our area's "1000 Grand Lakes" for 19 years. I am an avid outdoorsman pursuing almost everything that swims, flys or lives in the woods. It is my passion to put my clients on the biggest fish of their lives while learning something new on the water ."
Our Area
The Grand Rapids area is located 3 1/2 hours to the north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. This picturesque community is abundunt with natural lakes that vary in size. The largely popular 59,000 acre Lake Winnibigoshish is a walleye and musky fishermans haven.
Lakes such as Bowstring, Sand, Jessie, Spider, Wabana and North Star also hold some trophy fish from jumbo perch to crappies, northern pike to large mouth bass. This area has enough options to satisfy even the most finicky of anglers. During your fishing adventure, Eric would be happy to assist you in finding a great place to stay.

Deposit: A $100.00 non refundable deposit is required to hold a reservation. In case of changing plans, your deposit may be transfered to another date in the same season .
* If trip is cancelled by Eric due to rain your deposit will be refunded.
Though never expected gratuities are accepted and greatly appreciated!!
Fishing Information
From walleyes on Lake "Winnie", muskies on North Star Lake, to smallmouth bass on Deer Lake, Eric has the knowledge and passion to make your fishing dreams come true. With numerous lakes to choose from he will find the one thats hot!
During the spring months walleye lakes such as Leech, Sand, Bowstring, Jesse and Round all posses a great jig bite. As the weather turns warmer we move out to deeper depths on these same lakess with the addition of Moose, Bass, Deer and Winnibigoshish ( Big Winnie ).
If its bass and northern pike you are looking for than let Eric take you to one of his secret little honey holes within the Chipewa National Forest. There are over 100 lakes near by that are just waiting to be fished.
The elusive musky is one of the most saught after big game fish in North America and has a reputaion to be very difficult to catch. Eric has been giving people the opportunity at these giants for 19 years. North Star Lake offers some of the best chances at this endevour . Eric offers something a little special in the muskie fishing scenario....NIGHT FISHING!! This option is not for the faint of heart. Weather permitting he will depart from the dock about an hour before sundown and head right into the darkness. This technique uses only one of your senses, your hearing. So if ya think your heart can take it, give him the opportuntity to show you a whole new dimension to musky hunting.

For all your group needs let Eric help you arrange the number of guide boats to fit your situation. He works side by side with numerous quality guides on a daily basis that posseses the same quality assurance as his own service. If its one boat or twelve boats he can get the job done with confidence.
Equipment and Sponsors

You will be fishing out of a 2010 Lund 2010 Explorer Sport powered by a Mercury 200hp Optimax outboard. This boat is agile on the big lakes and is equally nimball on the smaller ones.
Eric clients use his own custom made St.Croix fishing rods as well as other top end poles. Most of the reels are from Shimano and and Diawa.
The electronics that are used are from Lowrance, Minnkota and Cobra Marine.
All your bait and lures will be on hand for your unlimited use along with lifes jackets.

What you need to bring
North Star Guide Service provides most of what you will need to complete your fishing experience. If you have any special special requests or needs please contact Eric as he will try to accomodate all requests to the best of his ability. We hope this list will help you in planning your trip!

[] Beverages/Cooler - adult beverages are allowed. We just reccommend to remember the purpose of the trip. ( optional )
